Dark Night of the Soul: Understanding Its Meaning and Navigating the Stages
June 7, 2025 |
”From light comes darkness and from darkness comes light.”
This ancient idea reminds us that the journey of the soul is not linear. Just as the sunrise follows the night, and seasons move from winter to spring, so too do our inner lives cycle between phases of illumination and obscurity, growth and stillness, clarity and confusion. This cyclical nature is at the core of what mystics call the Dark Night of the Soul—a profound spiritual initiation.
This is not a story of suffering for its own sake. The Dark Night of the Soul is the soul’s rite of passage, a sacred fire walked by the spiritual warrior. It should not be seen as evil, nor as punishment. Rather, it is purification. A profound transformation in disguise.

In truth, the real darkness is the one that shines like a starry night. It is a necessary counterpart to light. Evil, on the other hand, is disconnection, stagnation, or as you aptly put it: “evil is stupid.”
So, today we are going to explore the Dark Night of the Soul and its stages. Not as a tragedy, but as a portal through which the warrior soul must pass.
1. A Spark of Truth
This is the moment when the veil lifts—a sign, a dream, a knowing—a sudden realization that something greater exists. You may feel you’ve received a fragment of proof. You see that the magic or spiritual truths you once suspected are real. This is like the trailer of a higher reality, a glimpse into a new world—one that operates on higher densities or dimensions of awareness.
2. Entering the Dark Night of the Soul
The awakening triggers a chain reaction. What follows is confusion, disorientation, and a sense of spiritual abandonment.
Why?
Because now, you’re face-to-face with what you didn’t know you didn’t know. The old beliefs collapse. The “proof” seems to vanish. You begin to doubt yourself, your insights—even your sanity.
You may say: “I saw the light… so why am I in the dark?”
This is the soul’s descent into the deep shadow—a descent that must be fully understood and fully lived before the light can truly return. The dark night cannot simply end because you wish it to. It’s not just a phase of emotion or thought—it’s a process of full manifestation. What was hidden in the unconscious must come to the surface. What no longer serves you—old identities, toxic patterns, attachments, even certain people—must be seen, felt, and released. This is not just an internal struggle. It becomes a reality. Your outer world begins to reflect the purge. Relationships dissolve, environments shift, illusions crumble.
It can feel like you’re falling deeper into the dark, but in truth, this is initiation. A sacred dismantling. You are not being punished—you are being prepared. And in these moments, when control slips from your hands, faith becomes essential. Because while you may not see the path ahead, something greater does. The universe, God, your higher self—whatever name you give it—is guiding you. Not away from your truth, but directly toward it.
In this stage, the ego resists. You want to control, to force clarity. But none comes. The only path forward is surrender. This is when the real work begins: You meet your shadow self. You learn patience. You begin to accept that growth happens in darkness too.

And yet—even here—the universe still sends signs, synchronicities, small lights in the fog. Enough to not give up. Enough to keep going.
4. Stillness
Here, the storm quiets. Not because you’re “better” but because you’ve stopped fighting. Your old identity dissolves. You may feel numb, empty, or in limbo—but this is sacred stillness.
A space is being cleared inside you. Again, glimmers of truth return, like whispers. They’re not loud—but they’re real. Each one a piece of the puzzle, a sign that something is being rebuilt.
5. Rebirth After the Dark Night of the Soul
Then one day, you wake up and realize… you’ve changed. You’re no longer reaching for the light. The reality you once glimpsed in stage one? You’re now living it. The darkness is trying to penetrate you, but in the end you reach your middle—the point where there is nothing more to penetrate, and where there’s only light, pushing everything that is not true out. It’s like reaching the middle, and when you’re in the middle, there’s nothing left to do but push whatever is not you out. And when you reach the center, you find the truth about the whole cycle. A simple truth, a single sentence, illuminating and dissolving all confusion—like a small, precious key unlocking your very middle. Like passing through a portal, you emerge into a new density. The darkness didn’t destroy you—it refined you.
6. It is Not all that Bad
The Dark Night of the Soul doesn’t just happen once. You might face one big awakening that launches your spiritual path. But more may follow—cycles like a rollercoaster, one after another.
Each round brings deeper insight, more clarity, more transformation. The deeper you go, the more the darkness reveals its beauty. It becomes less frightening—more like a starry night than a void. This is the real polarity: not good versus evil, but light and shadow.
Remember, creative force always rises above death, parasites, or fear. Don’t focus on evil—it has no real power. Focus on the magician within you.

The one who knows how to play with darkness—wisely and with love.
Im a master in energy healing who likes to write about it and share, so that others become able to heal themselves. Connecting deeply with people's souls, even across different dimensions and past lives, is a gift I'm grateful for.
Moreover, I find it incredibly fulfilling to not only help others but also discover more about myself through the study of our nature and various spiritual patterns. Writing, crafting guided meditations, and building connections with you is what I do!
