Life is a long and winding journey, but sometimes it can feel like we’ve gone off course with no hope of finding our way back home. What if I told you there was a way to find out if you are exactly where you are meant to be? Well, all you need to do is crunch a few numbers and pull out your tarot cards in order to get the reassurance you need. Let’s have a look at the hero’s journey…
What is the Hero’s Journey

How To Find Out Where You Are in the Journey
To find out where you are on your hero’s journey you’ll need to do some basic addition. First, you’ll need the date of your most recent birthday (yes, even if it was last year).

Next, add up the digits of the year. So for 2023 it would be 2+0+2+3 which equals 7. Or if it was 2024 it would be 2+0+2+4 which equals 8.
Next add the month and day into the year number. So the full calculation looks like this: MM+DD+(Y+Y+Y+)=
If you got a number over 22 simply add the two digits into one another until you have a number between 1-22. For example, you get 39 and 3+9=12. So you’d be on step 12 of your hero’s journey.
Look at the list below and see how much you relate to the phase of the journey you’re in. Since it’s impossible to get the numbers 1 or 2 from this addition sentence, we start with the number 3.
This is a year for doing more, making more and being more. This is a good year to adopt a pet or have a child.
4 The Emperor
This leg of the journey is all about power, those who wield it and those who wish to. The most important thing you can do is learn to stand more fiercely in your identity.
5 The Hierophant
This is the part of the journey where you’ll find it is best to follow the tried and true paths laid out before you. You must learn from those who have walked this path first.
6 The Lovers
This could indicate that you are meeting and dating new people. The cards can always be taken literally, but this phase is also about the union of two things, so you might be in a self acceptance stage.
7 The Chariot
This is the part of the road trip where you’re cruising along the most beautiful stretch of highway. It’s the delicate balance of taking in the wonders you’re seeing, while also not breaking your pace. Things move quickly!
8 Strength
This year requires you to draw upon your reserves of strength. There is a meeting of your wild self and tamed self that will take place. Strength takes both sides working in harmony.

9 The Hermit
You’ll need divine alone time this year. Divine alone time means closing the door on the outside world, and opening one in your inner world.
10/1 The Wheel of Fortune
This is the start of a new chapter, so new endeavors are rife with beginner’s luck. However, you may feel a bit like your life is happening just outside of your control. Try to ride the waves instead of swimming against the current.
11 Justice
The challenges are tougher, yet the rewards for your efforts are also far greater. You will gain the specific wisdom you need for the rest of the journey this year.
12 The Hanged Man
This year requires you to reflect on the past, now with your more educated mind, in order to ascertain new insights. Your world will grow, but it requires returning to the past.
13 Death
This part of the hero’s journey is about the pruning you must do in order to be who you are and live the life you are meant to live. Not every part of your life must be carried with you like a hermit crab carrying its shell.
14 Temperance
Balance is found in this part of the journey. It’s not so much the balancing of scales, but the finding of one’s equilibrium. You’ll learn how to weather life’s storms better this year.
15 The Devil
This part of your journey is all about testing the limits in order to discover your boundaries. If you’ve been living life as a prude, or a hedonist, you’ll hear the call for change this year.
16 The Tower
Harsh truths and shocking revelations pepper this part of your hero’s journey. This year is about brutal honesty and that might require you to burn it down and start all over again.
17 The Star
This year is about returning home, both in the literal and metaphorical senses. You’ll want to connect to your deepest truths in order to rebuild what was lost in the previous year.
18 The Moon
This year asks you to reflect upon the last decade of your life, taking stock of what beliefs shape your life. You may find that there is much you don’t want to take with you into the next year.
19/1 The Sun
This is a year of self actualization. This part of the journey is close to the end, and yet it will also feel like a new world is opening up before you.
20/2 Judgment
This is the part of the journey where you connect to the spiritual realm in a powerful way. You’ll find that you are closer to the veil this year, more sensitive to the whispers of the beyond, and in deeper communion with your intuition.
21 The World
You’ve made it! This is the moment when you reach the summit and see all that you have accomplished. Now that you’re here you may notice that you’re not who you used to be.
This means you are right at the start of a new journey! You may still be feeling the pulse of energy from the last journey you were on, but you’re as fresh as a new born baby.
